The exhibition

Miniature portraits

In a special room of the palace over 60 miniature portraits will be exhibited. It will be the first time this collection is on show for a larger audience in Germany.

Such tiny portraits were important to the House of Orange. This way one always had their family close at hand, in the shape of a piece of jewellery, hanging on the wall or displayed. Moreover, it demonstrated the increasing international prestige of the family. They came in handy during marriage negotiations, the birth of children, as a gift to family members and allies, or to mark memorable family events.
